Why You Should Apply Polycrylic Over Spray Paint

Many people make wooden furniture and other objects at home, whether it's to save money or because it's a relaxing hobby.

Since the surface of wooden items and furniture may not be not uniform, people may prefer to spray paint the surface; this allows the user to combine multiple colors conveniently.

Also, in many homes, wooden items like tables may repeatedly get wet when used for meals, which can damage the wood, reducing the life of the wooden furniture to a very great extent.

So, to protect the wooden surface without affecting the design and color of the wooden furniture or other item, applying polycrylic over spray paint is recommended by many painting experts.

Spray Painting of Wooden and Other Surfaces.

Conventionally, a painting or roller brush is used for painting surfaces like walls of a room.

However, a paintbrush may not be suitable for smaller items or areas, conventional painting methods may take a longer period of time, and multicolored designs may not be possible using traditional methods. This is where spray painting comes in.

Spray painting is great for doing multicolored painting of wooden furniture, decor and other items. However, there is always a possibility that the paint will chip or peel off if the painted surface is not protected, so it is highly recommended that a protective clear coat finish like polycrylic is applied over the spray paint layer.

A Polycrylic Finish For Painted Surfaces

The polycrylic protective finish for painted surfaces is available in a number of finishes like matte, glossy, satin, and semi-glossy.

The transparent topcoat should be applied with a brush with synthetic bristles on the spray painted surface after sanding it lightly. The coat applied will dry quickly within two hours of applying. It's strongly recommended that two or three coats of polycrylic be applied in total.

After the polycrylic coating has been applied, you can easily clean up using soap and water. After applying the polycrylic over the spray paint, the surface should be allowed to dry for a period of at least 24 hours.

Enjoy the benefits of your polycrylic-coated surface!
